National Torch High-tech Industrial
Development Zone of Zhongshan (Zhongshan Torch Zone) is a state
level industrial development zone approved by the State Council
of China. Situated in the center of the Pearl River Delta, Zhongshan
Torch Zone covers an area of 70 square kilometers. The population
in the Zone is about 200 thousand, with a residential population
of about 80 thousand.
Zhongshan Torch Zone is endowed with advantageous geographic location.
To the east of Zhongshan Torch Zone is the Pearl River and across
the sea are Shenzhen and Hong Kong. To the South are Zhuhai and
Macao, to the north is Guangzhou, and to the west are Jiangmen
and Foshan.
Zhongshan Torch Zone boasts of convenient transportation networks.
By land, it takes about 45-75 minutes* ride from Zhongshan Torch
Zone to the city centers of Zhuhai, Macao, Dongguan, Shenzhen,
Jiangmen, Shunde, Guangzhou and Foshan. By water, it takes about
80 minutes from Zhongshan Port to Hong Kong by hydrofoil, and
70 minutes to Hong Kong International Airport. Ranked as one of
China*s Top Ten Container Ports in cargo handling capacity, Zhongshan
port handles over 700,000 containers with four million tons per
year. By air, there are six airports in the vicinity of Zhongshan,
within a radius of 90 kilometers.
